Nerve IV emerges from the dorsal surface and winds around the midbrain.

Sensory and motor roots of the tigeminal nerves.

VII and VIII together with the slender nervus intermedius.

Trace nerves IX to XII back to their attachments to the surface of the medulla. IX, X and XI are attached lateral to the olive and XII between the olive and the pyramid.
