DG and VG are the dorsal and the ventral grey horns.

The white funiculi are the dorsal (D), lateral (L) and ventral (V).

The dorsal funiculus is rather slender - at this level consisting mostly of the fasciculus gracilis ("gracile").

Also note the relatively small white columns.

The bundles around the spinal cord are the nerve roots forming the cauda equina.

This is ascetion of the sacral spinal cord.

Think of why the white matter has a relatively small area.

What is cauda equina? How is it formed? At what vertebral level does the spinal cord end in the adult?
