Enrolling in Developmental Biology
ANHB3308
This course is open to The University of Western Australia undergraduate students and also to external students.
There are 2 standard ways to enrol for unit ANHB3308, (A) as a part of an undergraduate course at UWA and (B) through University Extension
(A) UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
UWA students can only formally enrol during the re-enrolment period in November/December this year, as Developmental Biology ANHB3308 is classed as semester 3, but is included in enrolments for 2006. If you are eligible to enrol via the on-line process for other units then you will be able to enroll on-line for Developmental Biology ANHB3308. See http://www.studentaccess.uwa.edu.au/. If you are not eligible for on-line enrolment, you will need to go to Student Administration and manually enrol over the counter.
[Note: For future offerings of this unit, an “expression of interest” form will be available from the School office for students considering enrolling in this unit as part of their degree, but are unable to do so until the November/December of their third academic year.]
A background in cell and molecular biology at the 3 year level is assumed. Students should have completed at least one (or the equivalent) of: Cell and Tissue Organisation ANHB3313; Mammalian Cell Biology PHYL3300; Molecular Biology SCIE3325; Medical Genetics GENE3320. Additional prescribed reading will be required for students with no more than: Biological Anthropology ANHB3311; Advanced Neuroscience NEUR3325; Human Reproduction ANHB3316; Human Functional Morphology ANHB3304; Comparative Neurobiology ANIM3320.
This is a standard degree unit (available through HECS-HELP), so you can enrol for Developmental Biology ANHB3308 if you do not exceed the maximum number of points permitted in your degree.
Alternatively you can do it as a NOT FOR DEGREE unit through University Extension (see below).
If you are currently studying at another institution you may be able to enrol through a cross institutional agreement. You will need a form signed by your home institution to show approval for the intended unit to be taken towards your degree. This approval must be submitted to the Faculty for Life and Physical Sciences (FLAPS) at UWA, to check the pre-requisites before the enrolment can be approved.
Alternatively undergraduate students from other institutions can enrol through University Extension (see below).
(B) UNIVERSITY EXTENSION: see
http://www.extension.uwa.edu.au/access/index.shtml.
If you are a postgraduate or overseas student, a researcher or just plain interested, you can attend the course through the University Extension Programme. The fee is $4570 (calculated as $2285 for a 6 point course x 2).
You can enrol by phone during weekdays from 8.45am - 5.15pm, or call (08) 6488 2433. Alternatively mail or fax (08) 6488 1066 your enrolment with your cheque or Bank/Master/Visa card number to: UWA Extension, The University of Western Australia, Crawley, 6009.
